Exercise is a
privilege
not a chore.

About

My Story.
My Mission.

If someone had asked me twenty years ago if I would be working in the health and fitness industry, my answer would have been a definite no. I graduated from Manhattan College in 1991 with degrees in Accounting and Finance and earned my CPA license. For over ten years, I worked for investment banks and hedge funds on Wall Street. But life can change in the blink of an eye, and one’s journey can change dramatically. I married my husband, John, and we started a family. Unfortunately, I gained over seventy pounds during my first pregnancy. After my son was born, I started working with a personal trainer to help me lose the baby weight I’d gained. I became hooked on strength training, and soon lost all of the weight. It was a gratifying experience, and I looked and felt amazing. I realized that coaching women about exercise and nutrition was my purpose, my passion and my future profession.

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside and learn from some of the best trainers and coaches in the fitness industry. The fitness industry is exciting because it is constantly changing as science and technology give us more opportunities to understand our bodies.  I believe that learning is a lifelong process and that skills are like muscles – they constantly need to be flexed. To that end, I frequently take continuing education classes and make it a point to stay current on the latest trends in exercise, nutrition & wellness. If I think my clients could benefit from other professional expertise, I have a network of respected physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists and nutritionists to whom I can refer them.

As women, our bodies are constantly changing and evolving. I strength train 3-4 days a week, eat a clean diet, yet I was surprised, humbled and frustrated by the changes to my body from perimenopause. Realizing I had to adapt, I learned how to navigate these changes to be strong and healthy. I want to be able to bring my personal experience and professional expertise to women who are experiencing similar challenges. I understand what women at this stage of life are going through because I am going through it, too. So I am uniquely equipped to offer the understanding, support, encouragement and know-how to women to help them achieve their goals and feel good.

When I am not in the gym, I enjoy reading, gardening, listening to music and spending time at the ocean with my husband and teenage son and daughter.

My Approach & Mission:
As a busy working mother, I understand the challenges of incorporating a healthy lifestyle into an already hectic schedule. It’s easy to say that there’s never a great time to start an exercise program.

However, I believe that exercise is a privilege and an opportunity not to be taken for granted. Your health is important.

No two bodies are the same. Your workout should be customized to reflect your goals and lifestyle. My approach to fitness is simple and effective. In order to make changes to your body and lose fat, the answer is not to do more cardio. You need to lift heavy weights, re-calibrate your diet and learn to manage stress. I’ll design your fitness program, based on a postural assessment of your body, current fitness level and fitness goals, to be safe, successful and fun.

I strongly believe the aging process should not deprive you of strength, mobility or the ability to enjoy your life. If you think that aging will only slow you down, you’ll face an uphill battle. So stop procrastinating and start moving! Now is the time for you to show up for yourself and start taking care of you. You can age in a healthy and optimal way. Your strength starts here.

I also hold specialized certifications in TRX Suspension Training, Pre and Post Natal fitness, Functional Movement Screens (FMS) and Precision Nutrition.
